How to Use Excel Currency Conversion

Posted by at 6:36 AM Read our previous post

1. Open Excel and start a new workbook. In cell A1, type in 'Currency to be converted.' In cell A2, type in 'Amount.' In cell A3, type in 'Today's conversion factor.' In cell A4, type 'Currency converted to.'
2. Format all of the above cells (A1-A5) as text cells.
3. In cell B7, type in '=B2*B3.' In cell C7, type in '=B4.'
4. Open your web browser and go to the following website:
http://www.x-rates.com/d/USD/table.html
From the table on the right-hand side, click on the currency from which you want to convert.
5. Scan down the table that appears and locate the currency to which you are converting, and record the conversion factor from the first column next to it.
6. Return to the spreadsheet and enter the appropriate values in column B for the corresponding labels in column A. The conversion factor you recorded in step 5 goes in cell B3. Excel does the rest, and the calculated currency conversion is displayed in cells B7 and C7.
