How to Sell Stocks on InvestorLine

1. Direct your browser to bmoinvestorline.com and log on to your account. Navigate to the Equity & Option Order Entry page. This page shows your account's cash balance and available cash for trading or 'Buying Power'. Equity quotes, order status, tutorials and help are also quickly available from the tabs on this page.
2. Select 'Equity' from the transaction type drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Below that, select 'Sell' from the Action drop-down menu. Indicate which market the equity is being sold from in the next drop down menu; choose either 'U.S.' or 'Canadian.' Enter the symbol of the equity being sold in the Symbol text box.These actions have told the system that you want to sell a specific equity from either the U.S. or Canadian markets. A quote of the equity will be visible in the right-hand tab box, above the Review and Submit Order pane.
3. Enter the quantity of the equity to be sold. Enter this in number of shares. As this number is typed in, it will also be displayed in the Review and Submit Order Pane and the Estimated Total Order Value including commissions and discounts will be calculated and shown.
4. Select the Trade Price, the default is the market price. Select whether the order should be settled in U.S. or Canadian dollars. The default is Canadian Dollars. Enter how long the order is valid by setting the 'Good Until' date. The default is 'Today Only'. Lastly, enter the required contact information.
5. Enter the account password and click the 'Submit Order' button. Correct or dismiss any errors or warnings that the system provides concerning the order, and the details of the submitted order will appear on an Order Confirmation screen. Remember to print or record the reference number for future reference, if desired.
