How to Trade Things Online

Posted by at 6:14 AM Read our previous post

1. Trade items online using Freecycle. This service provides an outlet for people who are trying to get rid of unwanted items or find things they need. It's an ideal place to organize a trade. First, post what you have to offer (specifically asking for a trade), then find things you need on the website. When you find something you desire, email the offerer with your list of items. In the meantime, you might receive inquiries yourself from the ad you posted. If you find someone willing to trade, you can then make plans to meet in a public place to do the switch. There's a unique Freecycle for many cities in the United States (see "Resources" to visit the main website and search for your local Freecycle). You need to sign up for your local Freecycle's Yahoo! group.
2. Post your items for trade on Caretotrade as another alternative. This online service is specifically dedicated to connecting people who have items available for trade or services to barter. Sign up for a free account and click "Post an Ad" to advertise your items for trade. Post the estimated value and be sure to mention all of the items you want in return. The service simply acts as an intermediary to connect the two parties, and may charge a fee depending on the situation.
3. Go to Craigslist's "Barter" page (located under the "For Sale" section) to trade things online. Sign up for a Craigslist account (you may need to voice verify to finish creating your account) and choose your city. Click "Post" on the barter page for your city. Post your items for trade and browse the current listings to see if you can find items you need or want. Communicate with other users via email or phone to organize the terms of the trade and meet in a common place.
