1. Open your Web browser on your computer and navigate to a website that offers currency exchange rate calculators, such as XE.com and X-Rates.com. Check the exchange rate and the amount of money you will receive for the amount of money you wish to exchange. This will give you an idea of what to expect when you go to exchange your money.
2. Go to a major bank, airport or travel agency to exchange your money. Make sure to call ahead beforehand to make sure the location deals with paper and coin based currency exchanges. Take note of the exchange rate and the fees that will be applied.
3. Fill out the currency exchange form provided by the establishment exchanging your currency. You will need to provide at least two forms of identification. After you complete the form, the establishment will exchange your currency. Get a receipt for the transaction.
4. Double-check that the money you received is close to the amount predicted by the currency exchange calculator. Take into account any fees that may have been charged by the establishment that exchanged your currency.
