How to Process Foreign Currency Checks

Posted by at 8:25 AM Read our previous post

1. Endorse the back of the check and write the account number in which you are going to deposit the check.
2. Deposit the check with a bank teller.
3. Ask the bank teller how long it takes for a foreign check to clear your account. Generally, foreign currency checks take longer to clear than domestic currency checks because the check has to go to the conversion department of the bank.
4. Review your bank statement---either hard copy or online. Under your transactions, the bank shows the amount of the check deposit in the foreign currency amount and the calculation used to convert the foreign currency into domestic currency.
