1. Read online Forex trader rankings, like the ones at Forex Traders which, as of May 2011, lists Markets, AVA FX and FX Renew as the top Forex traders. Click the reviews of each trader to read about the investment firm that owns it and which clients they accept. Markets, for example, doesn't accept clients in the United States.
2. Contact local investment firms and ask whether a Forex trader is on staff.
3. Ask the trader how long he has been trading on the foreign exchange market.
4. Ask the trader how many customers he trades for. A large client portfolio, according to Forex Investment, could indicate that many people trust the trader with their money. Depending on the area, a large client portfolio could mean the trader serves 12 clients to 50 clients.
5. Discuss how you want your investment managed. One Forex trader may be more comfortable letting you call all the shots while he executes the transactions, but another could offer guided investments.
