1. Find out the current exchange rate. The Fiji dollar currency code is FJD, while that of the U.S. dollar is USD. There are many Internet services that allow you to know the current exchange rate. For example, you can use XE.com
2. Find the nearest place where you can exchange U.S. dollars for Fiji dollars. If you are on one of the Fiji islands, this shouldn't be a problem at all, as all bank branches and currency exchange desks allow you to do that. Local ATMs also pay out in Fiji dollars. If you are outside of Fiji, you can buy its currency for U.S. dollars at any major branch of a multinational bank, such as Citigroup or HSBC.
3. Before exchanging the money, check out the exchange rate. It should be in line with the exchange rate you have identified. When exchanging cash, be prepared to show your passport or any other ID to verify your identity. If you are exchanging money at your bank, your pin code or signature should be enough (in addition to your debit or credit card).
